Skye has something for everyone and Mary’s Cottages in Elgol provides an excellent base to explore the many activities and sites on the Island. You will find below a very brief introduction into just a handful of the places and activities to be experienced on the Misty Isle. For more information visit IsleofSkye.org

A range of cafés, pubs and restaurants are located in and around Elgol. The Cuillin View Gallery and Cafe is an excellent location to observe the distant hills.
However, if you really want to push the boat out the Three Chimneys near Dunvegan or the Kinloch Lodge in Sleat offer superb Highland cuisine.
If you like to do low level walks, like Elgol to Sligachan, or a challenging adventure climbing the crags of the Cuillins, the backdrop is always dramatic. Walk Highlands or the more general Walk Scotland have details on several routes on the Isle if Skye.

Cycling is also popular on Skye allowing you to immerse yourself in the environment. Cycle hire is available in Broadford.
You may catch sight of a Golden eagle soaring above, or otters, dolphins and seals frolicking in the waves. Sea eagles have been reintroduced here and the Aros Cultural Centre in Portree has had a special exhibition on this rare bird.
The geology of Skye is probably some of the UK's best with many a geology student spending weeks on field trips exploring the various rock structures.
We are now able to offer boat trips to view Loch Coruisk and some of the Island's best views of the Cuillins along with the seal colony and other wildlife. While you are staying in one of our Cottages you will be able to go on the boat for half price! See our Elgol Boat Trips web site. We can take groups of up to 12 passengers. For larger groups or days when we are not sailing contact Misty Isle Boat Trips.
The people of the Highlands feel strongly about their culture and Arts and support the flourishing talent of their communities. All year round music can be heard in pubs and venues like the Sligachan Hotel and the Gaelic College, Sabhal Mòr. Galleries and craft workshops are dotted all round the Island and near Elgol. The Skye & Lochalsh Arts and Crafts website provides good in formation on the myriad of shops and galleries.
